O my God, I trust in You, let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me. (Psalm 25:2)
There will always be enemies that rise up against us. An enemy is not always those who hate us but those who cause us extreme grief and those who are antagonistic against us. Those who come against something we are working at or building, become our enemies by opposing what we are doing. There are all types of enemies. This is why Jesus said love your enemies. He was saying, love those who oppose you, misuse you and bring you grief. Loving our enemies does not include condoning what they are doing. We are called not to hate but that doesn’t necessarily equate to liking them. We can love people and not like who they are or what they do. Keep in mind loving people is the goal that we need to work at every day. It is easy to hate but through God’s Spirit in us, we can love according to the word of God. This is part of warfare in overcoming our emotions.
Warfare is not a pleasant endeavor . It is an engaging absolute, that is part of the Believer’s life. When we are adopted into the family of God, the battle begins. Knowing Jesus does not exempt us from troubles, to the contrary, it kindles Satan’s war against us. He hates the fact that we belong to God. He hates us because of what Jesus has done for us. He can not get to God Himself, so he attacks what is closest to God’s heart, His children. The encouraging thing to know is that we are not alone nor are we defenseless. We have the armor of God, we have the Blood of Jesus, we have God’s Word, we have prayer. We have everything we need that pertains to life and godliness. We are victorious through Jesus Christ! We are seated with Him in heavenly places.
Fight on! Remember always, you are a soldier for God. You are never alone, and all of us who are His are warring against the enemy of our souls together, and together we win because of Jesus!
