Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there. If I rise on the wings of dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast. (Psalm 139:7-10)
Most everyone reading this has been through some type of abuse, heartache or sorrow. During those times we have wondered, where are You God? Going back to childhood, we can recollect times of extreme loneliness and darkness. Times when we felt so all alone and asked, why would God leave me at the very times that I needed Him most?
Human nature will always agree on the side of doubt and unbelief. That is why The Father let us know in His word that there is no place in life that we can run away from God’s Spirit. He is in the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows. He is with us in the beginning of our days and at the end of our days. He was there with us through all of the abuse that we suffered and through all of the pain we endured as children. He was with us when we were molested, cast aside, rejected and abandoned. Yes, He was there.
While He was there with us through all of those sorrow filled years, He also wept with us and for us. He wept because He knew our pain. He wept because He knew we felt alone even though He was present. He understands the frailty of human kind. He wept because He knew the hardships we would endure to make it to the finish line of our lives victoriously. He also knew that we were truly not alone as orphans, that even though we felt that way, there was coming a day that we would grasp the truth that His Spirit has kept us, held us and guided us. Yes, we can now look back at everything that Satan warred against us with to destroy us and see the mighty, delivering hand of God in our lives to cause us to triumph.
When Jesus said,”I will never leave you nor forsake you”, He meant it. We may have endured lengthy times of feeling alone and forsaken, but we never were. Feelings are misleading and truth many times doesn’t “feel” like the real thing, but it is. We are called to walk by faith in God and what His word says, not what we are feeling at the moment. But as children, we don’t fully understand that and that is why God is so moved when children are hurt so deeply. He knows the little minds of children just can’t understand or comprehend, but He knew there was coming a day when those little children would grow up and receive healing from their King and they would be mighty warriors to set others free who are in captivity. This is where the scripture comes to life,”what the devil meant for evil, God turns it around for the good.”
As we wait for “the good” to come to pass, do not doubt or dismay. God is large and in charge and He is mighty to save. His word will not return void. Know that the child in you that seemed to be destroyed by evil can be raised up, healed and loved back to life by the Father’s great love and used for great and mighty things that you know not of.
