To Preserve Life

“But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.” (Genesis 45:5)

Such victory. Let me take this verse into this very day. The miracles that God has done and is doing in my life, and the way that I now know Jesus, came through meeting Him in a hell. When my life had come to a point of total disaster and torment, when I knew death was near and all hope was gone and everyone was nowhere to be found, I encountered Jesus. The years of pain because of being sexually abused and where it brought me, had caused me to be bitter towards the man who wounded my soul and have hatred to those in authority who had wronged me. I remember crying out to Jesus saying that He didn’t know what I was going through. I thought to myself, He had never been raped, His mind was intact when mine was scattered and destroyed. Then a still small voice said to me,  “Michael, when you were raped, I was raped, when your mind was tortured, my mind was tortured. What was done unto you, was done unto Me.”

When I realized that Jesus did know what I felt, and He knew the pain I was in, and that He had the power to heal and deliver me, I started my road to recovery. He brought me back to Joseph in the bible. He showed me how God used all of Joseph’s heartache and pain for his own good and the good of God’s people. God didn’t cause it, but He turned it around for his good. God taught me to forgive and love the people who sold me into spiritual slavery and those who threw me in a pit to die. Little did I know that He would raise me up to sit on a spiritual throne with Him in heavenly places to have authority over all the same demons that had me bound. If it wasn’t for what I had went through, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Now I have honest love for those who brought hurt into my life. I have compassion because I understand that those who wounded me were wounded themselves.

Whatever anyone has done to hurt you, let it go. It’s not worth holding onto hatred and bitterness which will only destroy you. Jesus has gone through your pains and sorrows with you and He is our High priest that has felt all our infirmities. Give it all to Him for He cares for you.

There will come a day when you will thank your enemies for the pain they had caused because that very pain was the tool that God used to bring you closer to Him. There is total truth in the words that say,”all things work out for the good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose! We can rejoice because of this, no matter what we walk through in life. We will learn to help others in the victories that we have won and we will be sent to preserve life!
