Do not be afraid or dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. (2 Chron 20:15)
This word is such a comfort when facing spiritual attacks. When our flesh gives in to fearful emotions, the Lord reminds us that the battle is His. Even though the battle is His, at times it is us He uses to fight the battle. We are not exempt from hardships in this life, on the contrary Jesus told us that we would face opposition and be hated for His name’s sake, but be of good cheer for Jesus has overcome the world. God will always empower us to do what we need to do. That power is called “grace”. The joy of the Lord is our strength and if God be for us then who can be against us?
So many times we see our battle as the “be all” and “end all”, when in fact it is the very avenue that God has chosen to carry our blessing to us. Sometimes blessings arrive in strange and painful packages. It is not the method of transfer that is important nor the blessing itself so much. What is important is to keep focused on God who blesses us! God may even use abrasive situations to mold us and polish us into His Son’s image. Allow Him to do what He wants to do in your life through submission and humility.
So today, whatever you face do not be afraid! Remember to be encouraged through knowing that the battle is the Lord’s and we will come out of this fight a stronger person and also a little bit more like Jesus!
Yes! That’s our goal- to look more like Jesus!
