Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
How comforting to know that in an unstable world of constant change that we serve a God who never changes. He is not evolving or arriving or out of style or passe’. He is perfect in every way and always there for us. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, the Bright and Morning Star, the Son of David, the Root of Jesse, our Healer, Redeemer, Savior, Lord and King.
In the world which we live, we can not escape constant change. Our society embraces rapid changes of mind, fashion, morals, ethics, laws, styles, friends, relationships and decisions. These changes that are always made bring about instability and insecurity in those that base their lives upon them. We are all searching for something, someone to depend on that will be a constant, a sure foundation, a rock in times of trouble. We need to look no further than Jesus. When we start the process of having the mind of Christ, we begin to think as He thinks, therefore His stability becomes what we depend on. We can be constant and stable in an unstable and changing world. How this dependence on Jesus takes place is by giving up our selfish desires and trust God’s plan. Paul says in God’s word that “he dies daily.” What he means is that every day he made decisions to do what God wanted instead of what he desired. This surrendered life is a process and a daily one at that.
As we surrender to God, His will unfolds like the petals of a flower as it blossoms. Now to say we have arrived in this daily dying process would not be true. We are all a work in progress. I know I am certainly a work in progress that needs the grace of God daily. I make mistakes, I miss the mark, I mess up! We all do. But thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph!
Be encouraged fellow Believers, Jesus is here for us to see us through this race we are in, then to take us to the Father in glory. Be strong and again I say to you,”be of good courage!”
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever!
