For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.(Ps.30:5)
So many times in our lives we view our times of trials as an eternity. Clearly as we look back at these times they become only a night in comparison to the joy that comes in the morning. When a woman is pregnant and she is in labor, her pain seems constant and never ending. Once she has delivered her baby, the pain that was so intense has produced such a joy that when she looks at her child she thinks of the joy of child birth, not the pain of labor. She will remember the pain, but she lives in the joy. We may remember the pains of life’s trials and tribulations, but because of Jesus, we can live in the joy of knowing Him. We are not immune to afflictions and sorrows but in the midst of those afflictions and sorrows there is peace and joy that only Jesus can give.
Some might say that the full wrath of God was taken out on Jesus so He no longer chastens us. This is true and not true. True in the fact that God’s wrath was taken out on Jesus, but not true that He no longer chastens us. If a parent does not chasten their children when they go astray, then what kind of parent would they be? That parent would have no concern for their children’s future or welfare. Is that the God we serve? Does God ignore our well being by allowing us to do anything we want with no consequences? Absolutely not! I myself have fell under the mighty chastening hand of God and felt His wrath. When that did happen it changed my life like nothing else did. I am no longer who I was because I have learned my lesson through His discipline. The Lord Himself says,”I chasten those whom I love.”
So just remember that in the midst of your season of being chastened that God already has plans for your season of healing, wholeness and prosperity. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Hold on Saints! His favor is pouring out on you and blessings are being stored up for you for such a time as this.
