That I May Know Jesus

That I may know Him and the power of His Resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death. (Philippians 3:10)

A while ago I read this poem and it said so much to my soul:

If you never were diseased, then how would you know that Jesus is your Healer?

If you were never in bondage, then how would you know that Jesus is your Deliverer?

If you never had a trial, how could you call yourself an overcomer?

If you never felt pain, how would you know that Jesus is your Comforter?

If you never made a mistake, how would you know that Jesus is your forgiver?

If you never were in trouble, how would you know that Jesus would come to your rescue?

If you were never broken, then how would you know Jesus could make you whole?

If you never had a problem, how would you know that Jesus could solve them?

If you never had any suffering, then how would you know what Jesus went through?

If you never went through the fire, then how would you become pure?

If Jesus never corrected you, then how would you know that He loves you?

If your life was perfect, then what would you need Jesus for?

Every one of these I have gone through to the deepest and through them I have found peace beyond all understanding, joy beyond all measure, and a love past all comprehension. I have found the Lover of my soul. I have found Jesus. Yes, that I may know Jesus.

The very mountains and trials that are roaring in your face are the giants that the hand of God will crush. When David was called by God to kill Goliath, he was armed with a sling shot and stones. One shot killed him because it was targeted and aimed to destroy. God has given us our weapons to destroy our enemies as well. We have His word, the sword of the Spirit. Use God’s word to destroy your giant. Speak to your giant like David did. Use the word against Satan like Jesus did. Put your hands up over your sea that needs parting like Moses did. Sing to God like Paul and Silas did. Believe God until the very end like Abraham did. The enemies of your life know His name and they will bow to Jesus!

Your victory is promised because Jesus has made the way. Our part in this is never giving up, never giving in and never let go of God’s mighty hand. He is mighty to save!
