Remission

And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. (Hebrews 9:22)

First lets understand what remission means. It is a release from bondage or imprisonment, dismissal, sending away and forgiveness, with the added quality of canceling out all judgment, punishment, obligation or debt.

This is what Jesus has done for us through the shedding of His blood. It is amazing to think that Jesus did this for us while we were enemies with God. If there was no shedding of His blood, then there would be no forgiveness of sins and we would be eternally lost. If there was no resurrection but just the shedding of blood then we would be forgiven but never raised to be with Him for eternity. We have both the forgiveness of sins through Jesus’ shed blood and eternal life through His resurrection and we have so much to be thankful for.

We need to see ourselves as the Father sees us and that is through His Son’s blood. 1 Corinthians 6:11 says,”and such were some of you, but you were sanctified, justified, washed and cleansed through the blood of the Lamb.”

Instead of focusing on the giant in your life that is fighting for your attention, focus on the giant accomplishment of what Jesus has done for you and know that through His blood you have remission!
