If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noon day. The Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your soul in drought and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. (Isaiah 58:10,11)
When we think of others, the devil has less opportunity to war against our mind because it is focused on something other than ourself. The enemy will always try to have us focus on our lack, our bills that need paying, our future, our problems and situations. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us,”cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you.” This is the answer for those who consistently worry or fret about their lives. When we spend our time worrying about tomorrow, we lose our hope for today. If we live in yesterday, we live in shame. If we live in tomorrow, we live in fear. If you live in the now, you live in power! Live in the now by faith and be present for what God would have you do. It is God Himself who keeps us, sustains us and sees us through all of lifes hardships. John 16:33 says,”I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
If you are overwhelmed by a situation in your life I provoke you today to get out of yourself and help someone in need. You will be blessed, as well as the other person. It’s a win win situation. Jesus is with you to walk you through your valley of the shadow of death whatever that may be, now it is up to us to be Jesus for someone else and walk through their valley with them as Jesus does with us.
Reach out, not in.
