Consequences

The 10 CommandmentsBut if you will not hearken unto Me, and will not do all these commandments, I will do this to you. I will appoint you over to terror, consuming diseases and fevers, that will cause blindness and pain of the heart. (Leviticus 26:14,16)

I never paid attention to the Old Testament. I figured, Jesus came to fulfill the law so it no longer had any validity. I was taught that Jesus paid for my sins so there was no price to pay for my disobedience.  God’s word is valid from Genesis to Revelation. Jesus said that He is the Alpha and Omega. He has taken care of our sins from a point of salvation, but there are still consequences for our sins that we insist on living in.  God is merciful and holy, but He is God. God is not mocked, what ever a man sows, that shall he reap (Galatians 6:7). There are penalties for disobedience but Jesus died so that we no longer need to hold on to the wounds that push us to sin. Jesus is full of mercy and waiting to heal our wounds and forgive us of all sin. He’s just waiting, so call upon Him and He will free you.

The enemy wants our life here on earth to be filled with grief, sorrow and pain. He hates the fact that our salvation is secure in Jesus, so he is determined to make our life on earth a living hell. Satan is the god of this world, he has been given the rule of this earth when Adam forfeited it in the garden of Eden. Since that time, our enemy, Satan, has tormented and tortured mankind through the demonic realm with disease, war, plagues, disasters, mental anguish and so much more. God’s word says it clearly. Satan has come to lie, to kill and destroy. Jesus has come to destroy the works of the devil and to give us life and life in abundance. If life is not abundant or you are experiencing great torment or pain or lack in your life, the possibility of a curse being evident in your family line is possible. Curses are perpetuated by sin in the family line against God or by sin in our own lives. There is a way out. Jesus has come to set the captive free. Deliverance is for us as the body of Christ. Deliverance is a process and entails much understanding to gain through teaching. We need to find out how the enemy gained access to us and our family line and then evict him. God’s word tells us in Luke 11:26 that seven more wicked spirits will come and take the place of the one cast out, if the house, (the person), is swept clean without being filled with God’s Spirit and His word. One could be worse off going through deliverance if the person seeking freedom is not willing to submit to God and His ways.

Here are some scriptures to dwell on:

Proverbs 11:26- The righteousness of the upright deliver them, but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires.

Ecclesiastes 9:18- One sinner destroys much good.

Psalm 37:13- The Lord laughs at the wicked, for He knows their day is coming.

Galatians 6:8- The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please God’s Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

Ecclesiastes 12:14- God will bring every deed into judgement, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

Romans 2:5- But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when His righteous judgement will be revealed.

Proverbs 24:20- The evil man has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.

Jeremiah 4:18- Your own conduct and actions have brought this upon you. This is your punishment. How bitter it is. How it pierces to the heart.

All these scriptures rip through the soul to show us how important it is to stay on the straight and narrow. Sin has a natural course and God does not want us affected by that course. He sent His Son Jesus to die for us, to show us the way to live instead of just telling us. Holiness is important to God not because it buys salvation, that would be salvation through works, but rather holiness protects us from being dealt the consequences of sin and holiness is a biproduct of true salvation.

The Lord says to us all today,”Be ye holy, for I am holy.”
