Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls.Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills. (Habakkuk 3:17-19)
I remember singing this song many years ago on platforms while leading worship. I recall how heartfelt it would flow from me never realizing that deposits for the future that were being made into my spirit for this very day. When life does not turn out the way we expect it and we are in a waiting process for our healing or deliverance, hope can become deferred. God’s word tells us that hope deferred makes the heart sick. So how do we stay strong during the long battles that we face? What do we do when we do not see the fruition of the promise yet come to pass? The answer is to hold on and rejoice in the God of our salvation!
There are many healings and deliverances that we are still believing God for and they are major ones, but we can not allow our faith or belief in the goodness of our God to cease when we do not see the answers to our prayers. God’s eye is on us and He is watching our response to our situation. Will we be like Job and bless God no matter what and be doubly blessed in the latter part of our lives or will we be like those who gave up and lost their faith under the pressure of relentless attack?
Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might during your time of tribulation and press on knowing that when you pass the finish line, your Savior and elder Brother, Jesus, will be there waiting with a crown for you!
Your fig tree may not be blossoming right now and no fruit may be on the vine but in spite of that, praise God, the Lord divine and rejoice in the God of your salvation.
Your continued faith is working out rewards that the human mind can not even comprehend. Hold on and don’t give up! Again, I implore you, HOLD ON and DON’T GIVE UP!!!
