“For a mere moment I have forsaken you, but with great mercies I will gather you. With a little wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you.” says the Lord your Redeemer. (Isaiah 54:7-8)
I remember crying out to God twenty years ago when I was told I had 6 months to live because of an AIDS diagnosis. I was more than shattered, but I knew I was reaping what I had sown. I had greatly sinned and the wages of sin is death. This was one of the darkest times of my life. I was only 26 years old and handed a death sentence. This scripture gave me some comfort but not in totality until I kept reading it over and over again and the Lord said Michael, “you shall not die. It is because Jesus paid the price for your sins so that you can live.” That 6 month death sentence was handed to me over 20 years ago. I’m still alive to tell of His love!
No matter what you have done, Jesus has paid the price for your sins. Sin opens up the door to the enemy and through that we become an open target for situations that God never intended us to go through. When our relationship becomes so intimate with God, we do not want to sin because we love Him. As your walk strengthens in love with Jesus, your desires will change to His desires.
As in any relationship, it grows over time. The love walk we have with our King is a constantly evolving one on one relationship that becomes closer each day. The relationship with Jesus is different than any other and fulfilling like none other. The enemy is most afraid of an intimate relationship between us and God because he knows the outcome is power, peace, joy, hope and life. Keep on seeking Him, keep on knocking, keep on praying. God is pouring His mercy and kindness out in an extra special way to those who are in relationship with Him and walk with a repentant heart. His mercy truly is great!
