Those who I love I rebuke,so be earnest and repent. (Revelation 3:19)
Most of us associate being rebuked or chastened in a negative way. That is not so. Why would someone take the time to correct and chasten someone unless they had their best interest at heart? God does chasten us for His word tells us that those whom He loves, He disciplines. Through His correction multitudes of lives have been saved!
God deals with our sins because sin in our lives will keep us at a distance from God’s best for us. Sin causes a breakdown in the fellowship between us and God. Nothing can separate us from the love of God but that doesn’t mean that nothing can separate our fellowship with Him. 1 John 1:6 says,”if we say we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.”
God loves us so much. He wants us to walk in all He has for us. I tell you this day that the Lord will deal with sin out of His unfailing love. If we don’t humble ourselves before Him, He will humble us. God’s grace empowers us to not do the things we did prior to knowing Jesus. If there is sin abiding in your life today then repent of it and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to overcome that temptation. 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us,”No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
His love for us is greater than words can describe. Do not despise His correction, for His correction brings life!
