For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the Fountain of Living Waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. (Jeremiah 2:13)
When we search for answers other than God’s Word, which is the Fountain of Living Waters, we settle for much much less! Every answer we need is found in God’s Word. Sadly, many have forsaken God’s Word and have run to man’s thinking for the answer. Those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Man’s conclusions and answers could be compared to where the scriptures speak of broken cisterns. Not that what sincere people or self help conferences wants to do is evil, to help people to overcome the battle in their minds, but rather, the fight of trying to overcome the mind without God’s Word, it’s impossible. Like trying to hold water in a broken cistern. We can only overcome the torment and trouble of the mind through knowing Jesus and His word. That is by surrender to Christ and putting on His mind. What we need is God’s deliverance, and healing. He loves His people so much and desires us to be set free even more than we want to be set free.
For decades I dealt with tormenting thoughts, grievous temptations and a great pull towards sin. It was only after I gave Jesus my dreams, hopes, desires and all that encompasses my mind, that I was set free. A great deliverance took place when I decided to give up and allow God to rule the throne of my life. One of the most difficult things for a person who has been sexually abused to do is to let someone have control of their life. Everyone that previously had any influence in my life, had hurt and abandoned me, so I was determined never to let anyone in again. God visited me with His great love and a relationship started. A relationship so wonderful that I gave Him my all. He has taken broken cisterns in my life and restored them and filled them with living waters, hope, great peace, joy and so much healing. What God has done in my life, He will also do in yours!
God’s thoughts toward us are for good and not evil, for a future and hope. To prosper us. When we put Him first, amazing things happen. Get ready for God is going to visit you with powerful and bondage breaking deliverance!
