From Those Who Walk Uprightly

For the Lord God is a sun and shield. The Lord will give grace and glory. No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11)

When we walk with God in obedience to His word, He pours out His blessings on us because we are in line with Him to receive those blessings. When we walk out of His Word, we remove ourselves from His outpouring of blessing, and the absence of a blessing is a curse. Simply put, when we are not in line with God’s Word, we are open prey for the fiery darts of the enemy. How do we quench the fiery darts of the devil? By taking the shield of faith and using it! What is that shield? It is the Lord Himself, which is His Word, which is Jesus. So many Christians claim God’s Word and speak of the Blood of Jesus, but are out of line with God’s Word by living in sin. That does not work!

Obey God’s Word out of love for Him and experience the benefit of having no good thing being withheld from you because you are one of those that walk uprightly.

Notice that the opening scripture states that God is a sun and shield. He is a shining sun to guide our way, however a bright sun will also burn those under its rays. Those who do not know Him as their shield and are living in the sun will one day experience the all consuming fire of God, while those who serve Him will be shielded from His future judgment on sinners who rejected Jesus. We live in the time of grace, so there is still time to gather those into the kingdom of God before it is too late. Jesus took upon Himself all the wrath and judgment of God for our sins, however as we see in Revelation, those who reject the sacrifice of Jesus have no redemption, but rather eternal sorrow separated from God. Seek Him while He may be found. Let us rid ourselves of sin to be used mightily with no hindrances from Satan.

If we walk uprightly before the living God, He will withhold from us no good thing. I have personally seen this in my own life, that when I turned from sin, God quickly and graciously took me off the streets from being homeless and placed me in a beautiful place to live, given me men and women of God to walk through this life with and blessed me unthinkably with so much goodness that I don’t even have room to contain it. In our obedience, God pours on us blessings that we are not even able to contain because He delights in us as we obey Him.
