From The Noise

A (not so) distant stormSurely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. (Psalm 91:3)

Let us first look at the definition of the word snare.

  • snare 1 (snâr) n. 1. A trapping device, often consisting of a noose, used for capturing birds and small mammals. 2. Something that serves to entangle the unwary.

The snare of the fowler is the net that Satan puts out to catch and destroy us. It is Jesus who delivers us from that snare.  Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy. If we are ever caught up in a snare of the devil, we are not left alone. Jesus will always help us out of that snare as we call upon Him.

The part that I love is the deliverance from the noisome pestilence. We can compare this noisome pestilence to the constant attack on our minds from the enemy. The battle of the mind. Every day we need to turn our thoughts over to the Holy Spirit to cleanse and fill our minds. The mind of man is the place where every battle begins and it is the place where every battle ends. The fight for our life is not on battle fields made of earth and clay but rather on the one attached to our necks! This is why God’s word tells us to put on the mind of Christ. We need to surrender our way of thinking to Jesus and take on His way of thinking for complete victory to be accomplished in our lives.

In the battle for my mind, I had realized that I had opened the door to the enemy through sin. God’s word tells us in Hebrews,”if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I realized that I had failed to confess and forsake my sin, therefore I was in disobedience to God’s word and that made me an open target for Satan. When I started to wash my mind with God’s word, my thoughts came under the Lordship of Jesus. I finally, after deliverance and renouncing the enemy, achieved victory over my mental anguish, which the doctors found baffling.

God is the God of order and He requires obedience for our own good. Our obedience to God protects us from a lifetime of pain and suffering. He has our best interest in His heart. Our obedience is much better than any sacrifice we can give God. The ability to obey Him is given to us as we experience the grace and mercy of God. He wins us over with His grace and accepts us as we are and then His love strengthens us to live according to His ways!

Whatever noise you are hearing this day that is not from God, whatever mental anguish that may seem to persist, know that He shall deliver you from the noisome pestilence because He loves you.

First acknowledge God and turn to Him, confess any sin that comes to mind and renounce the enemy and use God’s very own Word against Satan. God’s love for us is so great and He desires our freedom more than we do!
