For His Sake

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; (Philippians 1:29)

Most believers don’t realize the amazing effects that suffering for Jesus has. It is not pleasant or desirable to suffer, but Jesus never came to this earth to give us pleasures while we are here. He came to bring us life and life in abundance. Part of that life is to be able to live in joy during trials and tribulations. When a person accepts and acknowledges Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and repents of their sins, an immediate light shines upon their lives. They become a visible and potent threat to the kingdom of darkness. Life does not get easier for the one walking in unity with Jesus, to the contrary, life gets much more difficult because of the spiritual opposition. What we have to draw from, now that we are children of God, is His everlasting comfort and help that He extends to us through His Holy Spirit. We have access to heaven and we are one with God. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus.

If you ever really heard the life story of those who transferred from Satan’s kingdom to God’s kingdom, you would hear something similar. A story of how deep sorrow and desperation had turned into great love and peace, but you will also hear of battles that are now being fought that were not previously experienced since entered into this great kingdom of God. Matthew 11:12 tells us that the Kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and violence is attacking it!

Do not grow weary in your battle against those who war against you spiritually. Remember we are not fighting flesh and blood. We who follow Jesus are on the winning side! Part of the time on this earth living for Jesus will be suffering for His sake, but great reward is waiting for those who faint not. God turns our trouble into triumph and our tears into joy. While you are enduring your hardships, look to the One who walks with you through it. Our Friend and Brother, Jesus!
