Perfect love casts out all fear. (1John 4:8)
When fear has a hold of your soul, there is torment that rules you. I know because I was ruled by torment my entire life until Jesus set me free through deliverance. I was a mess every day and on so many medications to control my anxiety and fears. Fears of death, of sickness, of the future, of failure and so on. The very things that I feared had come upon me and my existence was controlled by terror. Instead of living, I was slowly dying. Fear causes us to be paralyzed and of no use for God’s kingdom. Fear needs to be faced head on and destroyed through the power of Jesus.
When the scripture says that perfect love casts out all fear, what it is saying is that matured love evicts the spirit of fear. We will never be perfect while we are on this earth and so many are waiting for this “perfect” love to be manifested from them when in reality the proper translation brings us much more understanding. It is us maturing day by day in the love of God that deals with our fears. As we grow in Christ, fear is kicked out!
Many times fear is present because we are existing in the wrong arena of time. Fear has a grip on our lives when we live in the future. It grabs onto the unknown and feeds on the what ifs. When that happens we must pull ourselves back into the here and now knowing that God has our future in His hands. Fearing tomorrow removes our trust in God and the first step to freedom from fear is repenting of not trusting God fully with our lives. Healing will come to our souls when we confess this to God because His word says, confess your faults so that you may be healed.” (James 5:16)
When fear comes knocking on your door, you must realize that it brings with it evidence and facts but not truth. Break it down, F= false, E=evidence, A=appearing, R=real. Fear is false evidence appearing real. Don’t give into the enemy’s lies. Believe what God says and live in freedom, not fear!
