Then Jacob was left alone, and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. (Genesis 32:24)
Loneliness can be viewed as an enemy, when in fact, it is often the road to an encounter with Jesus. In the book of Joshua it tells of how Joshua was alone when the Lord came to him. The Bible speaks of how Joseph was alone in the prison before the Lord elevated him to second in command of Egypt. Moses was alone in the wilderness when the Lord spoke to him out of the burning bush. John the baptist was alone in the dry places. John was abandoned by men and alone on the island of Patmos when he had a vision of Jesus in all His glory. There are so many other people in the Bible that were alone when God met them.
I was living on the streets as a drug addicted, wounded, confused man, when the Lord met me in my loneliness. He turned my life around because I encountered Him. I struggled with this Man Jesus and prevailed as Jacob did, because I would not let Him go till He blessed me, and He certainly has.
God is no respecter of persons and what He has done for me, He will do for you. What He did for Joseph, He will do for you. What He did for John, He will do for you. If you are alone today, know that you are alone with Him and don’t let Him go till He blesses you. Do not allow loneliness to be the walk to your ending, let loneliness be the avenue where you meet the King, the Healer, the Provider. The Man, Jesus!
Throughout life we are tested to see if we are looking to man or the Man for our help, approval and affirmation. Even when we arrive to where God would have us be, there will be the tendency to look to others and take our eyes off of God. When that happens, the Lord will go out of His way to remove those that are closest to you so that your eyes stay upon Jesus and not people. No matter what anyone has done to help you get to where you are destined in Christ, always keep in mind that there is not one person that is worthy of your adoration except for Jesus.
God will see you through so that you reach your destiny for His kingdom. As with so many in God’s word, when you are alone, you are in good company!
