You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word. (Psalm119:114)

There are so many times when we need a shelter,a place to go to for rest and to be embraced, that place is in God Himself. When God’s word becomes part of us and overtakes us, we are shielded from everything contrary to Him. It isn’t that we don’t see the troubles or hardships that are around us, but rather it is that those troubles are not pushing us to the left or to the right because our minds are stayed upon Him.

When our mind is on Jesus, He will keep us in perfect peace. To be in that peace is to have nothing missing and nothing broken. We experience troubles and burdens so that our character is fashioned into who God desires us to be. Jesus carries us far above the very pains that we see as unbearable.  The higher you are in God, the smaller everything else becomes.

Troubles and hard times can not be avoided. Paul in the Bible asked the Lord to remove the thorn in his flesh many times and God’s reply was,”My grace is sufficient for you!” Know this day that through your thorn experience that all things work together for the good for those that love Him and are called according to His purpose. The very sorrow you are enduring today will turn into the avenue through which God will use you to touch others and take them out of bondage!

God does not cause pain and sorrow in our lives, but He certainly makes our sorrows and heartaches work for our good. He uses everything, both bad and good for His glory.

However things look, trust in the Lord and hope in God’s word. He never fails!
