But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:15)

A frequently asked question  is “how can I receive spiritual things and hear God’s voice?” The answer to that is living according to the Spirit. Discernment is a gift that is given to us to know and understand what is happening in the spiritual realm so that we can pray effectively and hear the Father speaking. Not only are we discerning the spiritual realm of God’s kingdom but we are also discerning the spiritual real of the kingdom of darkness. In order to fight our enemies, we need to know who they are. God did not leave us helpless. He gave us His Holy Spirit to teach, comfort and guide us through this life. We are not orphans.

Adam brought us into the natural realm, but Jesus is the One who gave us the ability to leave that realm and operate in the realm of the Spirit. If sin is what originally placed us in the natural realm then one of the ways to operate in the Spirit is to live a holy life unto God. Holiness is being separated unto God and that is when we hear His voice. Romans 8:6 tells us,”For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” If you want spiritual discernment, ask God and turn your back on sin. He will give you the desires of your heart. When we ask according to His will, He hears our prayers and gives us what we ask for. He will hold back no good thing from those who love Him and discernment is a good thing!
