Let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. (James 5:20)

Our life is to be an example of God’s power to restore and save that which is lost. We are to be an example to the world of God’s saving love. How can we be an example to the world if we act like them, drink like them, party like them and are unholy like them? We are to love people in truth and lead by example.  We are to be a light in darkness, we are not to be part of darkness.  God’s word says that those who seek Him will find Him and God will also bring you to those who are seeking Him. Our goal is to share the love of Christ, not party with the world. God’s word tells us to be holy as He is holy. That doesn’t mean that we separate ourself from people but it also doesn’t mean we align ourself with sinful behavior and places. Bad company ruins good morals. Balance is the key to life.

When Jesus sat with the sinners and prostitutes, He was sharing life. His one and only reason He spent time with sinners was to bring Himself to them so that they would have the chance to repent. Jesus did not partake in their sins. When He spoke with the woman caught in adultery, He freed her from her bondage and granted her life. Her life was permanently changed after her encounter with Jesus. We are to be the same for those who are lost. We need to be available to share the love, mercy and truth of Jesus so that they have the opportunity to change their ways. God’s desire is that all would come to repentance and be saved. 

Love God, love people and share Jesus. When we turn a sinner from the error of their ways, a soul is saved!
