“Then it shall come about when the Lord your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build, and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied, then watch yourself, that you do not forget the Lord who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. Deuteronomy 6:10-12
God’s mercy is so amazing and when He blesses, He does it in a way that is extravagant. As I read these verses from Deuteronomy, I saw the blessings of God in my own life. God has brought me out of addiction, out of sickness, out of homelessness, out of isolation, out of so much bondage. He has brought me from that bondage to a splendid city and has allowed me to live in a house full of good things and blessings that I did not work for nor did I deserve anything. I have eaten and have been satisfied and the one thing I always do is to remind myself why I am so blessed. It is because of Jesus. It is so important after you have been freed from bondage and healed an delivered to not forget the One who set you free!
Gratefulness to God demonstrates the spiritual healthiness of your heart. When we are filled with gratitude, it shows that we recognize that all we have, all we are and all we are blessed with comes from God and Him alone. James 1:17 tells us, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Many when they are healed by God go on with their lives and do not thank or recognize the great work He has done in them. There is a difference between being healed and being made whole. The story of the 10 lepers in the Bible states that while 10 were cleansed or healed, only 1 was made whole. The 1 leper who came back to thank Jesus for healing him was not only healed but he was also made whole. His missing body parts were returned to him because he came back to thank God while the others just had their disease removed. The key here is that the others did not have their body parts replaced because their lack of gratefulness didn’t allow it. They were still healed but not made whole.
Do you want wholeness in your life? Do you desire to be made whole? The main focus of our wholeness really has to do with our level of gratitude and thankfulness to God. Take time to thank Him daily. Recognize and acknowledge Him every day out of love for Him and watch what happens in your life. Psalm 9:1 says,”I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
Tell of His wonderful deeds. In everything give thanks. Enter His gates with thanksgiving in your heart and embrace the wholeness that only Jesus can give!
