An Enemy To Your Enemies

But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. (Exodus 23:22)

What a great partnership with God we have. When we learn to hear and obey God’s voice, He makes our enemies His enemies. The key to having God move on our behalf is obedience to Him. Many Christians don’t see their enemies being defeated because they are not in partnership with God by obeying Him. We can not expect from God if we are not in agreement with Him. When we are opposing God, we are being double minded and God says we can not expect to receive from Him in that state of mind.

God’s word calls Satan our adversary and the only power we have against the devil is through Jesus. When we fall in line with God’s word we are obeying Him and then our adversary is defeated in our life. If we walk in disobedience to God, we open up a crack in our armor for the enemy to gain a foothold in our lives. As the foothold becomes deeper, it becomes a stronghold.  Satan is defeated through obedience to God. Psalm 91:1 tells us,” he that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Clearly there is safety when we are hidden in God.

God loves partnering with His people, He is a covenant God. He made a covenant with Moses. He made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He made a covenant with Jesus for our salvation. Throughout His word, God has made covenants with people and He takes those covenants very seriously. Many covenants made with God are sealed with blood. The animals sacrificed in the Old Testament were all blood sacrifices for the covenants made with God. That is why Jesus shed His blood for us as the final sacrifice for our sins. Never again does blood need to be shed for sins. Jesus did it all and all to Him we owe. Even though Jesus shed His blood for us, there is something that we need to do to obtain the salvation He purchased for us. What we need to do is not works but rather belief in Jesus and repenting of our sins. Belief in Jesus is enough to many but look what James 2:19 says,”Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” So if belief was enough, then demons would have access to heaven, but they do not. The bottom line is that God still and always will require obedience. It is that obedience that makes our enemies, God’s enemies.

Lay down your will to Him today and walk in obedience and see the blessings overtake you as God opens up the windows of heaven and pours out upon you!
