I trust in Your Word (Psalm 119:42)
There are so many voices fighting for our attention every day. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming to even know who to trust. When the doctor says,”you have a terrible disease, should we trust his or her word? When the psychiatrist says,” there is no help for you except medication,” should we trust their word? When the devil tells us that we have no value and there is no meaning for your life, do we trust his word? NO!!!
God says that we shall live and not die. He said that He gave us a spirit of power, love and of a sound mind. God told us that our lives are worth so much that He sent His only begotten Son to die for us and that He crowns our efforts with success. His Word tells us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Trust what He says.
We will hear many voices in this lifetime, but the One we should not only hear but listen to as well, is the voice of God’s Word. Jesus said,”My sheep hear My voice and the voice of a stranger they will not follow.” Don’t believe the lies of the enemy no matter whose mouth he uses. Believe what God’s Word says and what He thinks about you.
We tend not to trust God’s word when we do not understand what it truly says. So many struggle with the basic truth that our sins have been forgiven. When Jesus was on the Cross, He established the forgiveness of sins for all mankind. In saying that, all of mankind is not saved but the provision for forgiveness was set forth as a free gift. That is what grace is. Salvation is like an equation. First forgiveness is given, then we receive that forgiveness and righteousness is the result. Psalm 24:3-4 tells us
“Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
And who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood
And has not sworn deceitfully.”
Before we can get in the presence of God, we must be cleansed. The only way we are cleansed is through the Blood of Jesus. When we receive the forgiveness of sins, the next step is repentance and then righteousness which enables us to go boldly to the throne of grace.
We are not saved by anything we do because salvation is a free gift of God, however if we truly have received this free gift the fruit of salvation is a changed life. We no longer are our own and we belong to Him who redeemed us. This redemption enables us to hear His voice and follow His lead.
The foundation for this kind of closeness with Jesus is faith which could be explained as confidently trusting in His word!
Lord, I trust in Your word!
