With Your Sword

Arise O Lord. Confront him, cast him down. Deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword. (Psalm 17:13)

When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Lord lifts up a standard against him. God confronts the enemy to cast him down when he tries to destroy God’s people. What we need to do is not give the devil any place.Time after time I had been under attack from the enemy, only to find out that it was myself that allowed the devil in through sin. Jesus Himself said,”the god of this world (Satan) is coming, but he has nothing in Me.” Jesus had no sin in His life. There was no opening for the devil to become attached to Jesus’ life in any way. We on the other hand are sinful and at times willingly commit sin. This action on our part leaves the enemy a place for him to bring destruction into our lives.

When we live in a known course of sin that has not been repented from, the enemy laughs at us while he attacks. We carry an awesome load on our backs from sin, which leaves us to be occupied with our own guilt, so we don’t have the capacity to fight him. When we are consumed by the power of sin, then our attention and effort is on something that God never designed it to be. The remedy for this is to quickly repent and confess our sins to God.

Look what David had to say about this in Psalms.”Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, I will confess my rebellion to the Lord, and You forgave me! All my guilt is gone.”

When our guilt is gone, then we are free to fight in strength rather than weakness!

God delivers our lives from the wicked with His Word, which is His Sword. God’s Word is the sword of the Spirit. We have all we need in Jesus. He has given us everything we need that pertains to life and godliness. When you confront the enemy, make sure you fight with your sword and live in a lifestyle of repentance. Repentance is not living in a sin consciousness, but rather in humility to God’s perfect will for our lives.
