For I have more understanding than all my teachers for your testimonies are my meditation. For You Yourself have taught me. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:99,102,105)
I am amazed how the Holy Spirit has and is downloading God’s word in my spirit. The understanding that I am gaining is a miracle because I was unable to comprehend things due to a paralyzed mental state. I see God’s word alive and active as it says,”In all your getting, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7) God is truly amazing. It is He Himself that has taught me and He desires to teach you, but you must apply yourself. How? Study God’s Word and ask Him to help you. God has lighted up the path of my life through His word.
If you are desiring a closer walk with the Lord, or you simply just want to know more about Him, then ask of Him. Reading God’s Word as a book will give you a story, and a great one at that! However if we read without the Spirit to bring life to it, then 2 Corinthians 3:6 will have effect which says,”the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” God looks at our heart towards Him. If we truly desire to know Him intimately, then we certainly will be met by His Spirit. When we study God’s Word, we must always keep in mind His great love for us. We must always remember we are forgiven, accepted, justified and seated with Christ Jesus in heavenly places. Get into God’s Word and ask Him for greater understanding than all your teachers.
As we grow in Christ we may also realize that many things we once thought to be true are not. It is not easy to find out that what we once believed as foundational truth, is not. It shakes apart the bottom floor of faith, but many of the things that were once truth to us become just the opposite once we find out for ourselves by studying God’s Word. Learning and understanding more about The Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is amazing and also comes over time. Get used to learning because God’s Word tells us that we will forever be learning something new about God for eternity. He can never be fully figured out. Anyone who thinks they have arrived in understanding truly has a long way to go. Enjoy your relationship with Jesus and ask Him for a hunger to know Him more intimately. He will give you more understanding than all your teachers.
