He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces. (Isaiah 25:8)
Jesus came to this earth as a Man who was divinely born, but He also had the Father’s perfect Blood running through His veins. He lived His life perfectly as a man while here in order to be the spotless sinless sacrifice that was to be made on behalf of all mankind in order for them to have eternal life. Jesus was crucified and shed His perfect sinless Blood and holy justice was satisfied once and for all!
We always speak of His Blood, which is worthy of all praise, however we also need to understand what His broken Body did for us on the Cross. His Blood was for the remission of sin as God’s Word says that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness for sin. Now let’s look into what a body broken and hung on a tree represents. God’s Word tells us that cursed is the one who hangs from a tree. Once Jesus was hung on the tree, He took every curse on His Body for us! The Cross was more than forgiveness of sins, although that alone was enough for Him to do what He did, but He also destroyed the power of curses. Curses such as sickness, disease, brokenness, and every curse that was proclaimed throughout the Old Testament.
While forgiving sin and breaking curses, he also took care of death for us!
Because Jesus rose from the dead, He swallowed up death forever. O death where is your sting? O grave where is your victory? Jesus took the keys of death, hell and the grave! These aren’t just mere words but living truth.
Being in a relationship with Jesus, makes available to us what He accomplished on Calvary. We are no longer subject to a life awaiting eternal separation from God but rather when we believe on Jesus, we start living eternity at that moment. Death no longer hangs over us as an awaited dread. When our time comes to leave this earth, we close our eyes and instantly we are with the Lord. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. What have we to worry about? What have we to be burdened with? He has swallowed up death forever!
If you have had a loved one pass on who knew Jesus, don’t carry the burden of grief any longer. Dying, for those who know Him, is coronation day and it is what we await for. This is why it is so imperative to share Jesus with people and to always give them the opportunity to receive eternal life through God’s Son.
With all the suffering and hardships this life has, we must take time and think for a moment on eternity. What great victory we have because of our King. The very tribulations and challenges you are facing today are temporary. Our eternity with our Father is just that, eternity!
Dying, He destroyed death!
