But immediately Jesus spoke to them saying,” Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” (Matt 14:27)
Many times we fail to realize through the hardships and turmoil of life that Jesus is speaking to us and telling us not to fear. I know I can speak for myself that every day life throws something at me that has fear attached to it. It is a deliberate choice I make not to fear. It is not the temptation to fear that opens the door to the devil but rather the choice to accept the fear. If your health is under attack, your finances or your family or your mind through depression or any other soul realm attack, choose not to fear for Jesus is with you through the storm. He never promised to remove the storm but rather to carry you through it.
It is in the fire of affliction that we are made pure. It is through life’s pains and sufferings that endurance is developed. It is through heartache that strength prevails and God’s glory is revealed to the innermost parts of our souls. Acts 14:22 tells us,”strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.” It was true then and it is true now that although freedom was purchased for us by Jesus, we can not idly sit back and think that we have no part in standing firm in what He has done. We are to enforce His victory over sin, death, Hell and Satan by living according to His word and being steadfast in the faith! Part of that steadfastness is battling fear knowing that He has already won the war for us!
I encourage you to not fear. Jesus is with you always. All we need to do is recognize Him!
