My sacrifice O God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart You will not despise. (Psalm 51:17)
One of the greatest sacrifices we can bring to God is the mess of our life. When we lay all that we are, all that we want to be, every dream and desire on the altar of God something amazing happens. God is literally drawn to the sacrifice of our lives. Dying to ourself is one the most difficult choices to work out. It involves pain and trust. Pain and trust are two things that go against human nature. We all try to avoid pain at any cost and we tend to have great trouble trusting who and what we can not see, yet God desires us to walk through the pain of self sacrifice and trust to the point of reckless abandon.
When we reach the point of death to self, we start to walk in a realm of relationship with Jesus like never before. What mattered to us no longer does. The offenses that kept us bound now seem trivial and the issues of life are no longer issues. When we trust the Lord with our whole heart we begin to experience flying like the eagles far above our trials and situations that previously had chains around us. When our spirit is broken out of true repentance, God reaches out His hand to mend us Himself. He is close to those who bow before His majesty in reverence and submission to His will. This happens only one way, in true Godly sorrow. Godly sorrow brings a repentant heart and a repentant or a contrite heart He will not despise.
Repentance changes a life, brings us closer to Him in ways we could never imagine and lifts us up from prison to palace. Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and in due time He will exalt you!
The very struggle you are walking through right now is designed to take you to the next level of authority in God’s kingdom!
