And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, nor angels nor demons, neither our fears for today or our worries for tomorrow- not even the powers of hell can separate us from the love of God. (Romans 8:38)
The cares of this world may seem to separate us from God’s love, but God’s love for us can never be separated from us by anything. One of the tactics that the enemy uses in our life is telling us that if God really loved us, He would not have allowed so much pain and suffering. The devil is a liar! We need to realize and believe that God is a good God and the devil is a bad devil. While we live on this earth, we will have sorrows and struggles because the earth has not yet been restored. Jesus did all the work for mankind and the Earth’s restoration but much of that is still planned for a future date. Until then, we are to fight the good fight of faith and press towards the mark! Even if there were some things that were allowed, such as what Job went through, they were allowed because they were meant for good.
Remember God’s word that says,”all things work out for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” The key in this verse is for those who love God. How do we love God? Well, love is an action word, not just a descriptive word, so let us look into God’s way of knowing if we love Him. Jesus said,” If you love Me, you will obey My commandments.” He also said,”If you love Me, feed My sheep.” So two ways we can start showing our love toward God are obeying Him and feeding those that are His. The first commandment given is to love the Lord your God with all you heart, soul, mind and strength. What that means is loving God with your heart is loving Him with your emotions, loving Him with your soul and mind is loving Him from within you and with your thought life, while loving Him with your strength is loving Him with your time, money and the years of your life.
Our love for Him has nothing to do with His love for us. He loves us regardless if we love Him or not. His love has no conditions. Salvation does have a condition. Salvation requires a relationship with Jesus Christ. God loves the world, but that does not mean that the world is saved, it means the opportunity for salvation has been given because of His love. It is up to us to respond to that invitation to enter into life and eternity. No one can see the Father except through the Son. God has done everything needed for us to demonstrate His love toward us. Romans 5:8 tells us that God demonstrated His love for us in this; while we were yet sinners, Christ Jesus died for us. No greater love than this, that a man lay down His life for His friend (John 15:13). Are you convinced? I agree with Paul who wrote the book of Romans and declare that “I am convinced!”
