If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Col.3:1-4)

When I had reached the point of earthly success, fortune, fame, and pleasure, it had choked the life out of me.The pleasures of sin are but for a moment. There is no true, long lasting satisfaction in this world. God does not want us in poverty, but He does not want things to cause us to be spiritually impoverished. Our God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. He will not supply our greed. God knows what is good for us and what is not. 

There is total satisfaction and peace when the cares of this world are gone and not interfering with our relationship with God. We are safest when we turn all over to Him. God is not so much interested in our comfort as far as houses and cars are concerned as He is interested in the healing of our souls which will then flow over to our physical bodies. 3 John 1:2 says,” I pray that you prosper and be in good health as your mind, will and emotions prosper”. 

When things do not turn out the way we planned we can rest in God’s word that all things work out for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. There is an old saying that is not 100% true of our earthly fathers but is 100% true of our heavenly Father, “Father knows best!”
