Our Daily Bread

So Jehoiachin changed from his prison garments and he ate bread regularly before the king all the days of his life. And as for his provisions, there was a regular ration given him by the king, a portion for each day, all the days of his life. (2 Kings 25:29,30).

When we are freed from our past bondage, we need to change people, places and things. We need to change out of our prison garments! Our prison attire becomes familiar and comfortable, but we need to put on the robe of righteousness that Jesus gives us. Our King puts before us daily bread. A regular ration, a portion for each day, all the rest of our lives. We never need to worry about what the Gentiles worry about. Where God guides He provides. Our provision from the Lord is not just physical food but spiritual food to give us life to give to others as well. Jesus is our Provider and no one takes care of His children like our Father does for us.

One of the main reasons for lack is not believing that God will provide. Added to that is not having the faith to trust that what God says He will do, He will do. Belief and faith are not the same thing. We can believe in Jesus but not have faith in Him. Having faith in Him causes us to live like Him which is walking in obedience and trusting Him. God’s word tells us that demons believe in Jesus, but they are not saved nor do they emulate Christ. Belief is not what God is looking for. Faith is what God is looking for. Jesus Himself said,”when I return, will I find faith in the earth?” The word faith that Jesus uses in Hebrew is “emunah” which means loyalty and faithfulness. When Jesus comes back, He is looking for those who have been loyal to Him, not just those who simply believe in Him.

Have faith in Him that what He says about you will happen and act on those words. God will provide for you but it takes your faith, your loyalty to Him, to activate His promises.

He is our daily bread!
