But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)
A simple, child like attitude toward God is so pleasing to Him. When we were children we simply believed because we trusted. It was unadulterated, pure and simple. As we go through life, the influence of the world takes part of our minds and shifts our simple faith to doubt and needing to see in order to believe. God’s word tells us, “blessed is he who believes and does not see.”
Part of being like a child is depending upon our heavenly Father for everything. King David was in charge of Israel, yet he still inquired of the Lord because David knew he needed God. Dependence on God is not a sign of weakness but rather a sign of wisdom. We can not do it on our own no matter how much schooling or experience we have. We will always fall short if we keep God out of our decisions.
God desires that we seek Him. Psalm 42:1-2 says,”As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.”
Allow your soul to be watered by God’s Spirit. Let Him have the things that hold you, let Him have the thoughts that seek to derail you. Give your mind over to the will of God to let Him have control. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Let Jesus bring you beside still waters and impart peace to you. Let your mind be still! His great love for you is overflowing and closer than your very breath.
Seek the Lord ernestly and be as a child with Him and watch how God intervenes in your life!
